social media for job hunting

How to Use Social Media to Find a Job

If you use social media, it may be one of the best ways to help you find a job. Whether it be a long-term career move, or temporary work to help save for Christmas. Using social media can make the process quicker and easier.

Here at CSP, we know a thing or two about using social media for recruiting. In fact, we’ve even been shortlisted for an award for it at The Recruiter Awards next week (29th September 2022).  So we’ve asked our teams to share their advice.

Why you should use social media in your job hunt

Social media is increasingly becoming one of the most prefered and popular means of job searching. In fact, over 73% of millennials have found their current role directly through a social media channel.

Facebook is currently the biggest social networking site with 11.2 million active users in the 25-34 year old age group in the UK alone, making it one of the most popular jobs searching social sites.

LinkedIn is a professional social networking site that allows you to search for jobs and also for companies to search for potential employees.  LinkedIn’s online community comprises more than 57 million companies.

Instagram is also an essential job search tool in many industries. It’s reported that 37% of recruiters are now using Instagram as part of their search for the perfect candidate.

On all of these platforms, you are able to apply for jobs. Therefore, if you are looking for work, you really should use social media to help.

Follow the right accounts

Not sure where to start? We can help. Most people have a preferred social media channel. However, the vast majority of users consider Facebook and Instagram their first choices. There are millions of business accounts on both platforms, so choosing who to follow can be confusing. Following a recruiter, or a specific group can be the best way to start.

You want to make sure that you are seeing jobs that are relevant to you. So, if you are looking for work in manufacturing, or warehousing, you really need to be following one of our many CSP pages and groups.

If you are looking for temporary work, it’s likely that your search will be location specific. To make it simple, we’ve listed below all of the location focused Facebook pages at CSP so that you can choose the most relevant to you.
